New AirPods Set to Join Apple's Fall 2024 Hardware Lineup
Apple is reportedly planning on launching two different versions of the fourth generation of its AidPods this fall. One model is expected to offer basic functionality but be affordably priced. A more expensive model will offer active noise cancellation and is rumored to replace the current third-generation model in the lineup, according to Bloomberg. Part of the decision to replace the AirPods 3 in the lineup has to do with its charging case. The AirPods 3 use a Lightening cable for charging, while Apple’s lineup is transitioning to USB-C. Currently, Apple sells the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3 as well as the AirPods Pro. Beyond the case upgrade, the AirPods Pro is expected to get new firmware that Willard new head gesture controls as well as improved noise isolation. Bloomberg says that Spacial Audio features all likely be shared with both models, and both will also likely offer Apple Watch charging via the AirPod’s case.
